Art Medal Offering Peace To The People Of The World
Carmel, CA - Hoffman Mint, one of the largest private mints in the United States, is proud to announce the release of their 2003 Calendar Medal, "Peace". This limited edition art medal portrays the peace symbol with the word "Peace" written in 30 different languages. The reverse is sculpted with one of the most recognized symbols of peace, the dove with an olive branch representing goodwill and the 2003 calendar. "We proudly offer this year's calendar medal with hope for peace for all peoples of the world," commented Michael Hoffman, CEO of Hoffman Mint.
This unique medal offers the word "Peace" in 30 different languages inscribed on the peace emblem. The peace emblem was created in Britain and brought to the United States in 1958, to be used in the civil right marches by a friend of Martin Luther King. This same emblem has appeared in Prague during the invasion by the USSR, on the Berlin Wall, during the Vietnam War, and in many other parts of the world at different times.
Engraved on the reverse in exquisite detail is the dove carrying an olive branch and the 2003 calendar. The dove is recognized as a symbol of peace throughout history from Greece to China to Celtic lore including the well-known story of Noah and the Ark. The olive branch has represented peace and goodwill for thousands of years. In early cultivation of the olive tree, anyone who planted a grove had to expect a long and peaceful life since it took decades to bear fruit for harvest.
This creatively designed and beautifully sculpted calendar medal "Peace" is a collaboration of the skilled team of Hoffman Mint artisans. Each limited edition is individually edgemarked with its own serial number and the official hallmark of Hoffman Mint. The 3" diameter medal is available in bronze with an antique finish or in .999 Pure Silver. The 2003 Calendar Medal,"Peace", is packaged in a deluxe presentation gift box with a solid wood display stand, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This is a strictly limited edition of only 5000 numbered medals, after which the dies will then be defaced and permanently retired.
